At Jacarandas, sustainability and community empowerment are at the core of everything we do. Our cinnamon operations are a prime example of how we integrate responsible agriculture with meaningful economic impact. Spread across three key regions in Madagascar, our efforts focus on not only producing high-quality, certified organic cinnamon but also on fostering collaboration with local cooperatives and advancing environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n

Manakara: A Legacy of Organic Cinnamon Production<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our journey with cinnamon begins in the lush, fertile lands of Manakara, located in the southeast of Madagascar. Here, we partner with over 510 certified organic producers who adhere to the standards of organic farming. These producers form the backbone of our operations, ensuring that every batch of cinnamon is cultivated with care, without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.<\/p>\n

The long-standing relationships we\u2019ve built with these producers are based on mutual trust and a shared commitment to sustainable agriculture. Through our support, these farmers are not only contributing to a healthy environment but are also benefiting from stable, ethical livelihoods.<\/p>\n

Vatomandry \u2013 Mahanoro: Expanding Sustainable Practices<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As part of our continuous growth, Jacarandas is actively expanding its cinnamon production to the east coast of Madagascar, in the Vatomandry \u2013 Mahanoro region. This is a dynamic area where we collaborate with four certified organic cooperatives (FFL FL).<\/p>\n

By working with cooperatives in this region, we\u2019re helping smallholder farmers increase their income potential through fair trade opportunities. The cooperatives receive support in areas such as agricultural training, financial management, and organic certification, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in a global market that increasingly values sustainable and ethical sourcing.<\/p>\n

Brickaville: Replanting for the Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our newest development area is Brickaville, where Jacarandas has been replanting cinnamon trees since 2020 in partnership with ten cooperatives. This ambitious project, which now reaches 30,000 plants per year, is more than just about growing cinnamon; it\u2019s a testament to our environmental and social commitments.<\/p>\n

In Brickaville, we\u2019re not only cultivating cinnamon but also strengthening our relationships with local turmeric and ginger cooperatives. By providing these farmers with an additional source of income, we\u2019re contributing to the diversification of their livelihoods and helping them become more resilient to market changes. Remarkably, the very farmers we supplied with cinnamon plants just a few years ago have begun to supply us in return, creating a sustainable cycle of growth and collaboration.<\/p>\n
